FOUR SEASONS, at 18a High Street, Crediton, have sadly had to make the decision to cease selling wet fish after 31 years.

David and Jenni have created more space to expand their already wide range of local produce now that the fishmonger side of the business has closed.

"Fish sales have declined recently to where it was becoming uneconomic to keep fridges and freezers running for the fish," said Jenni.

"We still have the Dartmouth smoked trout, smoked salmon and smoked mackerel," said David. "We can now stock cream, milk, eggs, all locally sourced, as well as more sausages made locally by Chinn's of Crediton."

Four Seasons also stock locally produced honey and chutneys and have daily deliveries of locally grown vegetables.

"Our core customers have not changed," said Jenni. "They are the ones who have always supported us because they want locally produced goods."

Four Seasons also sell flowers and Jenni is a trained florist. She added that there is a renaissance in Westcountry flowers grown on the banks of the River Tamar as well as flowers from other growers throughout England.

They were also very much involved in helping Crediton to win the Best Food Town award for Crediton. Sue Read
