THE paddling pool at Newcombes Meadow in Crediton is now open.

It was due to reopen on Monday, May 26, but Mid Devon District Council staff have been able to open it early in time for young families to make the most of the summer sunshine and enjoy hours of fun outside this Bank Holiday.

Work was carried out on both the Newcombes Meadow and Westexe, Tiverton , pools over the off-season to freshen them up ready for families to enjoy this summer.

Councillor David Wulff, Cabinet Member for Quality of Living, Equalities and Public Health at Mid Devon District Council said: “We’re excited to reopen the paddling pools at Westexe and Newcombes Meadow for another season.

“These much-loved family spaces are a real favourite with the local community - especially when the sun shines - so here’s hoping for a summer of blue skies and warm days!

“Our team will be visiting both sites regularly, testing the water every day of the week, to make sure the pools remain clean and safe for everyone to enjoy.

“Please make use of the bins provided, or take your rubbish home, to help us keep the pools clean and open for all to enjoy throughout the summer.”

From 10am to 7pm, seven-days-a-week, families can enjoy free outdoor fun until the end of the school summer holidays, with the last day of pool opening set for Sunday, September 7.

The public is asked to please remember that MDDC staff will be working above and beyond their normal role in order to keep these paddling pools open.

It also advises: “The pools are a perfect place to spend an afternoon – remember to stay protected by bringing your sunscreen.”
