MANY dressed in 1920’s costume for Newton St Cyres Parish Hall’s Centenary Celebration, a Heritage Open Day event, held on September 19.

The celebration marked 100 years since the hall was established, plus local businesses which sustained the village, Quickes Cheese and Sandford Orchards.

The Hall was previously a cider barn which was gifted to the village by Capt Noel Quicke on April 8, 1926.

After major upgrades in 1958 and in 1970, changes will be proposed to re-order the Hall in the future.

Visitors could learn about this, results of a survey, see the premiere of a film about the village, hear Sandford Sings, enjoy a cream tea or purchase books about the village.
