CHERITON Fitzpaine and District Ploughing Association held its 80th Annual Ploughing Match and Produce Show at Netherexe Barton, Thorverton, Exeter, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs R May on Sunday, September 20.

There were 11 classes for tractor ploughing and one for ploughing with horses.

Martin Kerswell of Hampshire brought along his team of horses, Pierre and Gringo, offering a rare sight for the public to see them in action.

Alison Stoyle won the Nora Kingdon Perpetual Memorial Trophy in memory of the late President Mrs N Kingdon for the exhibitor gaining the most points in the cake classes. AQ 1517

He was the champion ploughman on the day.

The produce show included crop classes, produce classes and junior classes, Alison Style winning the trophy for most points in the cake classes.

An 80th celebration cake was cut and the Association thanked all who attended or supported in any way.
