THE Music Makers’ concerts, at Crediton Congregational Church, now in their fourth year, will benefit from the generous support of local chartered accountants Stapletons, who have agreed to sponsor concerts at the Congregational Church.

Paul Vincent, who organises The Music Makers’, said: “The support of Stapletons is greatly appreciated. The new funding will be mainly put towards the maintenance and tuning of the grand piano.

“This will benefit not only Music Makers’ events, but other concert events at the church, who will no longer need to contribute to the regular upkeep of the piano.”

The next Music Makers’ - the 16th in the series - takes place on Saturday, April 22, at Crediton Congregational Church. This will be a combined evening with the Moon Jazz and Blues Club, organised by Andrew Vaccari.

The first half will include pianists Rebecca Willson and Roger Stephenson playing historic works by Kodaly and Chopin, respectively, and also the welcome return of talented young players Caitlin Plypiak-Clancy (violin) and Morgan Wallace (saxophone) for two further performances.

The second half will take on a different mood, with an extended jazz set by the Pete Canter Sky Ensemble, featuring a number of excellent local musicians led by saxophonist Pete Canter: Lucy Welsman (cello), Iona Padel Collins (viola), Marius Rudnick (flutes), Matt Johns (piano), Pasquale Votino (double bass) and Gary Evans (drums).

Doors are open from 6.30pm, with music from 7pm. Admission is £7.

As in the last two events, hot food (£5 extra) will be provided by Eran’s Kitchen (from the Baobab Café) before the event and during the interval. All are welcome!
