PUPILS at Spreyton Primary School are delighted to have their lunches in their new school hall, a multi-use area that was opened after the school Harvest Festival.

The red ribbon across the serving hatch between the hall and the kitchen was cut by the Rev Noel Walter, associate priest of Whiddon Parishes.

Planning for the project began at the beginning of the year, with the work done through the school summer holidays. The school has refurbished the existing space to make improvements to the kitchen, as well as creating the new school hall.

Headteacher Mrs Tracy Lindsay, said: "We are thrilled with the space. It is amazing what can be achieved with some creative thinking.

"We have gained a fantastic area where we can continue to provide a very high standard of lunches, cooked on the premises, but now we also have a warm and welcoming hall for other school activities as well."

After the opening ceremony, refreshments were served to adults and children by Spreyton Primary School PTFA in the new hall.

Meals are cooked by kitchen manager Mrs Linda Curnow who has been at the school for six years. At present the school has 38 pupils in two classrooms. After Christmas there will be 41 children.
