AN exciting new building control partnership is about to launch in Devon.

The Building Control Teams from North Devon and Mid Devon District Council’s are joining together to provide their building control service which will be known as NMD Building Control.

The new partnership officially launches on April 3, 2017 and will see a new and improved service for customers that covers both districts.

Leader of North Devon Council and Executive Member responsible for partnerships and shared services, Cllr Des Brailey, explains: “This is an exciting opportunity for both councils, for North Devon this is our first shared service. Working in partnership will allow us to provide an even better service and great value to our customers as well as saving money for both councils.”

Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration at Mid Devon District Council, Cllr Richard Chesterton, said: ”A lot of hard work has gone into setting up this shared service over the last two years, I’m delighted that it has all paid off and we are ready to launch NMD Building Control.

From April 3, the partnership service will have a new look and improved user-friendly website providing an online application service. The website can be accessed in the usual way from both councils’ websites.

Customers can also keep up-to-date with news and information from the partnership about building control using the new Facebook and Twitter pages @nmdbuildingcontrol .

As well as this, as part of the new partnership, the North Devon team will begin its relocation on Friday, March 17 from their offices at Brynsworthy to Woodlands Enterprise Centre, Pathfields Business Park, South Molton EX36 3BY. Telephone 01271 388282.
