HOW sad for the residents of Exeter Road, Crediton and environs that, having campaigned over many years for a relief road, the "Third Way" is now proposed with ne'er a thought for those affected.

In my experience, MDDC planners rarely take into account those most affected by development.

Local objectors are conveniently labelled "nimbys." Yet who are the most appropriate to fight for their immediate environment than local people?

Once upon a time, consultation had meaning, but now it is a smoke-screen. Once MDDC planners and DCC Highways have made up their minds, then no amount of protest will change it.

Local people SHOULD protest - they have the high moral ground - but in order to be successful they will need to find the Achilles heel or someone with sufficient clout to espouse their cause.
