ACCOLADES keep rolling in for Diane Heggadon and her team at the Crediton Inn, Mill Street, Crediton.

Otherwise known "tongue in cheek" as the “House of Ale Repute”, the Kirton Inn has just received not one but two accolades from Exeter and East Devon CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).

They are 2015 Winter Pub of the Year and 2016 Runner-up Pub of the Year.

Ray Dwan, chairman of Exeter and East Devon CAMRA on presenting the awards stated that out of the 400 to 500 pubs on their “patch” six pubs are awarded presentations in the categories: Spring; Summer; Autumn; Winter; Urban and Rural Pubs of the Year.

Those six pubs are then voted on for the actual “Pub of the Year”.

Ray said coming in at second place out of so many pubs is no mean feat.

Diane has 37 years under her belt as Crediton’s longest-serving publican.

In that time she has served beers from Penzance to the Orkneys and the Channel Islands to Northern Ireland.

Pub outings from as far afield as the Midlands and Nottingham have dropped in to the “KI” for a pint!  As the sign outside the pub sometimes says, it is “The Holy Grail of Real Ale”.
