CREDITON Town Team is thrilled to announce that CredFest 2017 will be taking place again next June.
CredFest is Crediton’s very own festival with a huge variety of fantastic events including music, dance, art, food, sports and great community activities.
The Crediton Town Team has appointed Rachel Vowles as Artistic Director for the festival who says that some exciting events are already being planned for next summer.
Rachel, who recently moved to live locally, has longstanding links with the town.
For many years she was Associate Director for Youth and Community at the Northcott Theatre in Exeter where she worked with numerous Crediton folk through both the Young and Community Companies - NYC and NCC. She has also taken part in Crediton’s Shakespeare in the Square playing Kate in "The Taming of Shrew" in 1999 and directing in and performing the recent Boniface re-enactment events.
Rachel says that the festival this year is going to build on the huge successes of the previous CredFests and hopes that individuals, groups and societies will want to take part.
She is keen to encourage anyone with an idea for an event (however tentative) to go along to the Festival Launch at 7pm, on Thursday, September 15 at the Council Chamber in the Council Offices in Market Street.
The launch will last no longer than an hour and will be an opportunity for any group or organisation representative or individual who wants to be involved to meet the festival team, hear some of the plans so far and share their own ideas for making CredFest 2017 the best yet!
Held every two years, the town’s business and community organisations get together for an orgy of celebration; and there is plenty to celebrate: music, community support, theatre, food, dance, sport, environmental awareness, health... you name it Crediton thinks about it and the Town Team enables it to happen.
The Town Team is supported by Devon County Council, Mid Devon District Council, Crediton Town Council, Crediton Arts Centre and previously also received National Lottery funding.
You can keep in touch with the progress of the festival through the website at: www.credfest.co.uk ; facebook.com/credfest or by emailing: [email protected]
