THE Courier has received a number of complaints and queries from mobile phone users about the poor signal coverage in the Crediton area.
One disgruntled customer called the office to complain to us saying he rang the ‘non-business’ helpline many times without getting through to anyone who could help.
He then rang the business helpline and after four attempts managed to speak with someone who told him that there was "no access" to the mast, but "an engineer is one the case”.
According to our caller, the coverage has been bad since Easter, was working again, then unavailable for 12 days in between then and May 29, since then, he says, he has had little or no coverage in Crediton.
We approached the mobile phone company for a response, a spokesperson replied as follows:
We’d like to apologise to customers who have experienced any problems with their signal in the last few months. We’ve been experiencing intermittent problems with one of our sites. We’ve now established that this is due to a power issue and we will need to replace some faulty equipment.
Unfortunately, the equipment is housed on a local supermarket who have requested that the work take place when they are closed. We continue to work with the supermarket to agree on a convenient date as a matter of priority.
