A CREDITON volunteer charity campaigner hopes to soon fly high with her next charity fundraising venture.

Maggi Orasnjak (73), will be completing a wing walk on a light aircraft from Dunkeswell in aid of local charity, Hospiscare.

She initially hoped to do the wing walk at the end of July but explained that because of the weather, the date has been postponed twice.

Maggi explained: “It’s a very hard time for Hospiscare to raise money at the moment so I am going to do a wing walk.

“Thank you to Tara and Paul at Evans Newsagents, who have a collecting box and have so far raised £110.50. Also, thank you to all the people who put £153.60 in my collecting box at Crediton Morrisons.

“Thanks also to my friends who have sponsored me. In total I have raised more than £560 for the Exeter hospice so far.”

When asked if she was scared about doing the wing walk Maggie explained: “I am really looking forward to doing it!

“I did one in aid of the charity Anthony Nolan about 20 years ago. I was previously involved with supporting that charity and gave my bone marrow to a donor.

“She relapsed and I gave some more, that was in 1997, and the lady that received my bone marrow is still alive.”

Maggi said that she supports Hospiscare because the charity had looked after her mother “kindly” more than 20 years ago.

In addition, Maggi formerly worked voluntarily at the Hospice helping clients learn craftwork.
