LOCAL solicitor, Lesley Austin, gave a presentation about the Older Client Care Award, of which she is a recent recipient, at the March meeting of the Crediton Branch of Devon Senior Voice.

The award is given by Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE), an organisation comprising of more than 1,500 lawyers across the UK.

SFE offers a quality, independent financial advice and planning service to elderly clients, ensuring their views, and wishes are heard and acted upon.

During her talk, Lesley emphasised that SFE has an underlying ethos of Fairness, Clarity and Acting in the clients best interests.

Following Lesley’s talk a lively question and answer session took place addressing topics such as, The Mental Capacity Act, Lasting Power of Attorney, Care Home funding and Making a Will.

After being thanked by Chair, Carole Towler, Lesley kindly stayed on to talk to individuals whilst light refreshments were served.

This was followed by the open meeting during which a reminder was given about next month’s AGM, on Wednesday, April 13, and a request for all voting slips to be returned as soon as possible.

The present committee, down to three, were delighted and relieved that four new people agreed to stand for election.
