THE Friends of Crediton Library will host the second illustrated presentation in its “Local Industries - a Day in the Life” series - on Monday, April 11, at Crediton Library.

The presentation will be given by the staff of Graphic plc, a major manufacturer of hi-tech printed circuit-boards and employer of 180 local people at its factory in the town on the Lords Meadow Industrial Estate. All are welcome to attend.

Doors open for refreshments at 7pm with each talk beginning at 7.15pm. As part of FoCL’s fund-raising role, a suggested donation of £4 is invited to support future projects at Crediton Library.

Two further events in the series take place on the second Monday of May and June and will also be a rare behind-the-factory-gates insights into important local enterprises Crediton Milling company, manufacturer of animal feeds (May 9), and Ernest Jackson Ltd (part of Cadbury Schweppes) which manufactures medicinal sweets (June 13).

The series started in March with a fascinating presentation, full of facts and figures, by Crediton Dairy’s Managing Director Tim Smiddy.

FoCL chair Paul Vincent said: “We are very grateful to these prominent Crediton companies for agreeing to share ‘A Day in the Life’ of their companies.

“The series is a rare opportunity to discover more about businesses that are prominent in the life of the community, some with very long histories, whose products are exported far and wide, and who have a combined workforce of more than 700 employees.”

Anyone who would like to be involved in FoCL is invited to contact Sue Lee, Crediton Library Supervisor at the Library.
