THE letter and editors comments appeared in the Courier on Friday, August 22, Issue 995. The story explained that with disposable packaging at an all-time high the UK is experiencing levels of litter on an unprecedented scale. "Let's Do It!UK" is a national anti-litter campaign and forms part of a global campaign. The UK's first "Clean up Day" will be held on September 13 and it is hoped that communities will pitch together to clean up their local area. Despite campaigns and publicity aimed at changing public behaviour it remains such an issue, in some places, that the government has launched an inquiry into litter. Does the area you live in have a litter or fly-tipping problem and is the situation improving or deteriorating? What roles do you think communities should play in tackling litter. What you told us ..........
I have not seen any litter for a long time. I last saw fly tipping about two years ago. Over all I think the Crediton area is very good, it's fairly tidy. Catherine Hughes, Cheriton Fitzpaine.
I live at the top end of the town and I can't say I see it as a major problem. Alan Ruddock, Crediton.
Sometimes the town is clean other times it's not. I think it's down to the individuals. I think the younger generation are more likely to buy food in the shops and throw away the wrappers. Chris Christou, Crediton.
I think Crediton is better for litter than Exeter. Does the council still sweep the town? There is a lot of litter and rubbish which gets blown up against the shop walls and when you really look there are bits of litter all over. Crediton Resident.
