ON a beautiful, sunny day, Lapford Playing Field was awash with all types of Vintage and Steam vehicles and engines for a Vintage Rally, held to raise funds for new equipment and maintenance at the Playing Field.

Grace Hill, secretary, Lapford Youth Playing Field Trust, explained: "A total of £475 was raised, which is a fantastic result. Thanks to everyone involved.

"It was lovely to see so many people there, either exhibiting or visiting the event.

"We would like to thank Hazel Evely, the Morrison's Champion, for helping us out in purchasing the cream teas."

The bar, run by Nancy and Jonathon, was kept busy, as were the cream teas, run by Grace and Lyn and the barbecue, which was run by the Congregational Chapel, made £200 for its Window Fund.

Grace added: "It was enjoyed by everyone, so much that the Committee has been asked 'when is the next one?!'

"Well, that will now be next summer."

The next event in aid of Lapford Playing Field will be a Car Boot Sale at the Playing Field on Saturday, August 19, sellers from 10am, buyers from 11am.
