A KITTY-Cam, designed by four Landscore Primary School pupils, was the winner of the Lions Roar Competition for South West England.
Eric Parkes and Ann Whitehouse of Crediton and District Lions Club announced the winners at a recent school assembly.
Lions Roar is a Lions UK wide initiative run in partnership with 8billionideas, a future-focused learning digital platform that empowers pupils.
It is designed to inspire primary school aged children to “think big and dream big” and encourage them to develop an idea that will change the world.
Landscore Primary School headteacher, Debbie Main said: “I was thrilled to hear about our regional success in the Lions Roar competition.
“All the children showed such creativity in designing their innovations.
“I am really proud of their dedication and enthusiasm, and am delighted that they have represented the school at this level.”
Lions Roar was an inspirational, fun learning experience which enabled pupils to discover how to use their imagination in exciting new ways, learning how to work in teams, and how to develop communication and presentation skills.
Roar 2022 is teacher-friendly with fully prepared lesson plans covering a number of different areas of the curriculum.
Landscore School’s entries were led by Deputy headteacher, Patrick Sellar during a lunch time club.
The pupils came up with an idea, produced a poster to advertise the project, a jingle for further publicity and then created a model of their idea.
The overall winners at Landscore were Sophie, Evie, Charlotte and Frannie for their Kitty-Cam idea - a collar with a camera to be worn by a pet cat and linked to a mobile telephone enabling the owner to know the location of their pet at all times.
The girls received a trophy for winning in the South West District and each received a medal and a certificate.

Jack and Rory received a Commended and a wristband each for their idea, “Animal Translator”.
The Best Model category was awarded to Isabella, D’arcy and Martha for good use of a model to explain “Night-time Wake Up”. They each received a wristband.
The Best Adverts and Jingles Award went to Alexia and Chloe - “Umbrella Bag” and to Malaki and Mia - “Extreme High Flying Shoes”. They each received a certificate and a medal.
Landscore School was also successful with the recent Peace Poster competition when Freya Cutler came third for South West England. She will be presented with a prize and certificate at the Lions Convention in Croyde in March.
