CREDITON District Girlguilding Headquarters at Lords Meadow, Crediton, now has a new kitchen thanks to generous sponsors.
The small former kitchen was not practical for use and it was decided to extend a new kitchen into a former storage area for boots, tents and other equipment.
Jill Taylor, District Commissioner for Crediton Girl Guiding, explained: “We have more than doubled the size of the kitchen.
“It is now a functional area where guides can learn to cook and even do the washing up.
“Our project would not have been completed without the generous support of members of the Crediton Unity Lodge of the Freemason, Jewsons, Ben Kingsland carpets and flooring, A and K Electricals, Andy Grantham (City Electrical Factors, Exeter), Jon Hawman, Crediton Trefoil Guild and members of Crediton District Girlguiding.”
To mark the occasion and to thank those who supported the kitchen project, and to demonstrate the benefits and opportunities that the organisation gives to girls in the community, an afternoon tea launch was held for the kitchen and many guests invited.
The Brownies, Rainbows, Rangers and Guides decorated the tiles which adorn the walls of the new kitchen.
