PUPILS in Year 2 at Landscore Primary School spent Tuesday, January 29, learning about pirates in the company of Dead Eye Swashbuckler– author and illustrator Kev Payne.

The pupils had a virtual visit from Captain Blackbeard who listened to the pirate poems the pupils had written, they had to try to send him to sleep for a nap so he wasn’t a grumpy pirate.

They created their pirate names and made puppets from spoons.

The day finished with receiving some of Captain Blackbeard’s stolen treasure which was placed in the treasure boxes they decorated. The work was a celebration of their topic this term.

The pupils all had a swashbuckling time but decided to remain as landlubbers!
