OLD newspapers, particularly "The Crediton Chronicle" provided a lot of information for John Heal’s book about Crediton during World War One.

The book was launched at the Crediton Area History and Museum Society’s coffee morning on Saturday, November 19, at the Old Town Hall when John was there to sign copies if people wished.

As well as being the Society’s archivist, John is its chairman. Home-made cakes and preserves were for sale plus a stall full of books and a bric-a-brac stall.

The Research Corner was open with CAHMS members on-hand to help if needed.

Copies of the book are for sale with all the other Crediton publications when the Museum in the Old Town Hall is open.

"Life in Crediton in World War One” is part of the Society’s local history series. It costs £4.50 each.

It is hoped it will be part of the local books for sale corner at Crediton Community Bookshop on the High Street.
