A WOMAN who worked behind the bar of a licensed premises until the day it closed in 2005 has fulfilled her ambition to re-open the premises with her own name over the door.
Jennifer Wreford (43), opened the ClubCrediton, previously known as the Crediton Conservative Club, in Searle Street, Crediton, on Maundy Thursday.
Following extensive upgrading and refurbishment using local trades people, Jennifer and her husband, Andrew, are delighted to have opened ClubCrediton as a private members' club.
The ground floor has a large and cosy lounge/bar, kitchenette, cellar, gents and ladies/disabled toilets and in addition there is a private room which lends itself to small meetings/training events or as a dining area for small daytime functions such as christenings or funeral get togethers (all subject to membership policy).
Jennifer said that ClubCrediton is a "comfortable, respectable place to meet with tasteful background music and friendly staff".
She said the membership rules include paragraphs on conduct, dress and behaviour to ensure it really will be a nice place to visit.
There was a terrific turnout of people for the club's opening night.
More than 70 people went along and 30 people signed up as members on the night.
The club is open from 7pm to 11pm each night and all day on Sundays.
Membership is just £12 per person or £8 for those over 60.
