I NOTE in last week’s Crediton Courier that Crediton Town Team received £1,500 for town entrance signage, from the “Innovation Fund”.

Not to sound discourteous, but what exactly was, or is, that £1,500 set to “innovate” exactly?

Are we set to see lovely flowers replaced on a daily basis because the frost kills them over the winter, or perhaps we’ll have flashing disco lights as cars drive past, highlighting the fact you’ve now entered “CREDITON”!

On the subject of town entrances, on the road into Crediton from Copplestone, are the town/district council trying to grow a hedge to cover the entrance to what is widely considered “Little Beirut” (Queen Elizabeth’s Drive)?

If so, they are doing a wonderful job as the existing hedges are growing into the road and the footpaths are turning somewhat into a jungle of weeds.

If the town would like to hide Queen Elizabeth Drive’s residents away, that’s fine.

Maybe some of the aforementioned innovative money could be set aside to build a barricade and cover it in barbed wire to keep us in our little war zone.
