“CREDITON’S housing estates sprawl unplanned across its slopes and industry invades its centre”. Simon Jenkins 1999.
This is a quotation from Simon Jenkins’ book “England’s Thousand Best Churches, in which Crediton Parish Church, is included in the top 100.
If Simon Jenkins were to re-visit Crediton now and look at the proposal to build hundreds more homes on the slopes and flood plains around the town he would be even more disappointed by what he saw.
The developments at Creedy Bridge will cause increased pressure on already over-stretched public services, add to congestion and air pollution in the town, and cause serious and long-lasting environmental damage to the delicate eco-system of the River Creedy.
I hope that common sense will prevail and the development will not be granted planning permission.
