MEMBERS of Hot Pins, Knit and Natter group, have been raising money for charity through their knitting.

The group, who meet up at Evans Newsagents in Crediton in the haberdashery department once a month, raise money mostly for the Devon Air Ambulance.

The latest donation of £260, was presented by Shelia Job and Nick Ashweek on behalf of the group, to Devon Air Ambulance volunteer, Gill Gunn.

Sheila explained: “Evans is exceptionally good at providing us with a place to meet and supplying us with cakes made by Nick or Paul and tea or coffee.

“We knit garments to display in the haberdashery department at Evans Newsagents. When the items are sold £5 from each goes to the Devon Air Ambulance.

“Sometimes we donate 100 per cent from a sale to the charity.”

Sheila added: “Several members of the group have knitted teddies for Crediton Fire Station which are given out to children who have been involved in fires.

“In the past we have knitted hearts for the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for patients on ventilators.

“We also make knitted items for Margaret Tucker for her shoebox appeal.

“And last, but not least, we also give money to other charities including Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF), MIND and Age Concern Crediton and District.

“We would like to thank Evans and say that we are glad to be back.

“We would also like to thank Nick who looks after the wool and the group.”

The group has knitted a number of poppies which are for sale in the newsagents in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
