THE 29th Annual Mid Devon Ploughing Match took place on Saturday, October 19 at Uton Barton, Crediton, by kind permission of G A Mortimer and Sons.

More than 50 ploughmen entered the 10 ploughing classes, travelling from across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, and further afield, to plough at the match.

Several companies sponsored the match, without whose support the match would not be possible.

The secretary, Fiona Mortimer, expressed the clubs thanks to the judges, stewards and all the competitors and also the sponsors.

The match welcomed two pairs of horse ploughing competition entrants, David Jones and his daughter, Myrtle, from Camborne along with their horses Harry and Bill and, from Taunton, Michael York with his horses Isaac and Valley.

Results were: Vintage Trailed - 1 P Stone, 2 M Smale, 3 C Stacey; Vintage Hydraulic - 1 A Retallick, 2 A Westcott, 3 R Heal; Classic - 1 V Gill, 2 R Morgen, 3 A Davis; Ferguson T20 - 1 G Percy, 2 E Vigers, 3 T Webb. Semi-Digger - 1 R Glanville, 2 D Tonkin, 3 M Adams; Novice - 1 J Yelland, 2 S Glover; Reversible - 1 P Rowell; Multi Furrow Reversible - 1 S Reed, P Pincombe, 3 M Pincombe; Horses - 1 D Jones, 2 M York.

The Champion Ploughman was Rowland Glanville and Reserve Champion was Vince Gill.
