THROUGHOUT the month of January, Crediton Library is using its exhibitions space to host a display of organisations, clubs, societies and regular activities in which local people can take part.

These include events and activities across all ages and themes, taking place at numerous venues around the town.

Visitors are invited to add to the growing collection of events – which may reach 100 or more by the end of the month.

As well as social, educational, sports and recreational activities, part of the display is for charities and organisations you can help as a volunteer, and another lists civic and other administrative roles.

Among those already listed are Sustainable Crediton, Queens Badminton Club, Holy Cross Choir, Crediton Scout groups, Crediton Operatic and Dramatic Society (CODS) and Crediton Youth Theatre.

Among charities and groups who welcome volunteers are Age Concern, Crediton Hospital League of Friends and the Friends of Crediton Library.

Why not visit the library and add some local activities that you take part in, or that you are aware of and which might be useful for others to know about?

Have you moved to Crediton recently, or are interested in finding out about the wealth of local activities on offer? Why not call in at the library and get some ideas about what you might get involved in this year?

This project was initiated by the Friends of Crediton Library (FoCL), with assistance from a number of Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteers who are helping out at the library.

FoCL will shortly announce events for 2020.

These will include discussion events on topical issues under the title “Talking Shop”, “Sustainable Sundays”, monthly social meetings with a “sustainable focus” and a new series of autumn illustrated presentations on “Local Industries” revealing a day in the life of some of our local factories and businesses.

The Friends of Crediton Library organises a range of events and fundraising activities to improve the facilities and resources of Crediton Library.

Libraries Unlimited is the charity responsible for running Devon Libraries.
