ON Thursday, February 7 Crediton Library celebrated Harry Potter Book Night: Hogwarts, with a magical evening event.

The Library was transformed into Hogwarts during the afternoon and staff dressed up as characters from the Harry Potter series.

The children arrived at 5pm dressed as wizards, witches and even an elf.

The sorting hat sorted them into houses and then they had a potions class, played a wizards and witches circle game, created their own bookmarks and went on a treasure hunt.

Tracey Norman, author and actress, volunteered for the evening and read from her favourite Harry Potter book.

Andrew Drayton, Crediton Tesco Community Champion, also volunteered and brought two prizes for the fancy dress competition.

Everyone had put a lot of thought and effort into their costumes and Andrew and Tracey judged Dobby the winner and Sirius Black as the runner-up.

Crediton Library is one of 50 Devon Libraries run by charity Libraries Unlimited. Harry Potter Book Night is just one of the events in the wide Libraries Unlimited cultural offering.
