I WAITED until after the Covid announcement was made on Monday (July 5) before writing this week’s article.
The news was confirmed that indoor singing can recommence from Monday, July 19 and that theatres up and down the land can fully reopen with no restrictions on ticket sales.
This is what so many have wanted to hear and it means that whether you wish to go and see “Les Miserables” in London, or “Bat Out of Hell” in Plymouth or “Sister Act” in Crediton, then the previous restrictions have been finally removed and the option is there for casts to resume indoor rehearsals and performances and members of the public to once again get out and see live entertainment.
Of course there will be some who will be cautious about these new found freedoms and each and every one of us will move forward at the speed at which we are most comfortable.
CODS is continuing to make every step of your visit to our production as safe as possible and it is hoped that many of you will feel able to come out for this special evening’s entertainment.
As can be seen from the photo the cast recently went and rehearsed outside at Shobrooke Park Cricket Club and our grateful thanks go to the club for its hospitality.
It was the first time in months that the cast members had the chance to both sing and dance and I believe it gave a bit of interest to those walking their dogs nearer the lake!
It has taken more than 20 months to get this production to performance and with each CODS show costing in the region of £20,000 to stage it is obvious that your support is always appreciated.
“Sister Act” takes place at the QE Barnfield site from Monday, August 9 to Saturday, August 14, and tickets are priced at £15 for adults, £12.50 for concessions and £10 for under 16s.
We are sorry that we can’t offer a Box Office facility in the High Street so you need to book your tickets either by clicking on the Box Office link on the CODS website: www.codsonline.com or emailing me directly via: [email protected] .
After all the negativity and disappointments of recent times this really is a story to raise a smile on everyone’s face and CODS looks forward to your support.
Mike Canning
