HELD at Sandford Parish Hall on September 28 Sandford Harvest Supper was a truly great evening.

Everyone was welcomed by priest in charge at St Swithun’s Church, Rev Paul Fillery, who thanked Simone Romaine and her helpers for preparing and serving the supper, to Richard Stoyle for donating the potatoes and the Munday family at Town Barton for the milk for the teas and coffees. He then said Grace.

The supper was delicious, various quiches included those for vegetarians. The puddings were all made and provided by the ladies, and tea and coffees were brought to the tables.

Margaret Phillips ran the draw, and Paul called out the numbers.

Entertainment was started by MC Paul, who recounted several of “The Two Ronnies” news items, which had people in stitches.

Then Bert Jewell read his poem, “The Harvest”, which was followed by Simon and Elsa. Elsa sang and Simon played the electronic organ. Next was Ronald Somerville who had just a few days before celebrated his 90th birthday, and gave a superb reading from “The Owl and The Pussycat”, and a poem from a birthday card he had received.

This was followed by a poem given by Keith Mason to Paul to read, and finally it was Paul giving some more hilarious snippets from “The Two Ronnies” late news, to conclude a wonderful evening.
