BOW Young Farmers’ Club kicked off a new year on September 1 which saw Georgia Woodman take over as Chairman. Georgina is looking forward to a busy year for the Club.

Last year was full of successes for Bow YFC, with members reaching the YFC National finals of competitions several times.

Junior member Owen Winston represented Devon at a South West Area Volley Ball competition. Who could have missed the successes of the Haldon Ladies Tug of War Team, with members Sophie Down, Suze Allanson-Bailey, Georgia Woodman, Alice and Jess Palfrey making it to the National YFC finals and coming second. They then went on to represent England and the UK at international finals!

Ed Quick, Zoe Burrows and Alice Giles donned their dancing shoes and made it to the National YFC finals of Ballroom Dancing where they came third.

Alice Giles went on to come second in the National YFC Senior Member of the Year competition. All great achievements showing that there is more to Young Farmers than tractors!

The Club has also given away more than £5,500 to charitable causes this year; to The Devon Air Ambulance Trust and the new Devon YFC Rural Hub building.

On Tuesday, November 15 the Club is hosting a New Members’ Evening. This will be a fun, social evening giving anyone interested in finding out more information about the Club the chance to go along and meet members, and hear about all of the activities available to Young Farmers.

The evening is being held at Down St Mary Village Hall at 8pm.

If you are aged between 10 and 26 you can join Bow YFC and you don’t have to be one to be one; you may not be a farmer but that doesn’t matter, as YFC offers a wide range of activities for all young people to enjoy.

You don’t have to live in Bow either, the Club has members from all over the surrounding communities.

Anyone unable to attend the New Members’ Evening can go along to one of the Club’s meetings, which are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month, at Down St Mary Village Hall from 8pm.

If you have any questions about YFC, or would like to find out more information about Bow YFC please contact Georgia on telephone 07873 345 559.
