A MAN who spent more than 60 years as a farm worker on farms in the Crediton area celebrated his 100th birthday outside at a socially-distanced party with his family, on Friday, July 3.

Geoffrey May of Newton St Cyres was treated to the outdoor gathering by his sons Michael and Brian and their wives Jean and Doreen, respectively and his grandchildren Ian, Susie, Sharon and great-grandchildren Shannon, Eva and Zoe and other family members.

Geoff was born at Rockbeare and married Daisy in 1946, who has sadly passed away.

Over the years the family lived at Crewkerne, Somerset, Dunscombe, Crediton, then for 18 years at Walson, Bow and Town Barton at Tedburn St Mary before moving to Newton St Cyres in 1983.

Well-known in the area, Geoff is a former member of the Crediton branch of the Loyal Order of Moose and he was also a member of the East Devon Herdsman’s Club.

Geoff received a card from HM The Queen to mark his special birthday and thanks everyone for their cards, gifts and kind wishes.
