FOR the first time for some years, a flower and produce show is to be held in Copplestone.
Organised by Copplestone Garden Club, it will be held at the Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, September 10, opening at 2pm, with prizes awarded at 3pm.
Classes will include a garden on a plate, photography with one category being for a well-known character of Copplestone, and flower classes for sweet peas, dahlias and a mixed flower arrangement.
Vegetables classes include the longest runner beans and funny shaped fruit or vegetable as well as classes for roots (beetroots, carrots, potatoes), runner beans, French beans, tomatoes and onions.
There will be a cupcake class for children, an adult’s class in cookery for the best Victoria Sponge and another for a jar of jam or chutney.
Children’s games will be organised plus a competition to guess who the baby photographs are, plus teas will be available and there will be plant sales and a tombola.
Class entries will be 50p for adults and 25p for children and entries need to be taken to the hall between 10.30am and 12 noon.
Judging will take place between 12 noon and 1.30pm and the hall will open to the public at 2pm, admission 50p for adults and 25p for children.
Following the prize giving it is hoped that items of produce will be donated for an auction.
