A FILM crew from Thailand recently visited Crediton where they filmed part of “The One You Love,” a romantic movie about the lives of international students living in the UK.
The movie will be predominantly broadcast in Asia in Thailand, China, Singapore and Malaysia.
The Managing Director of the Red Sugar Media Co Ltd, Naphat Groves, husband Dan and daughter Stephanie travelled with famous Asian actors and a renowned Thai production team.
Stephanie who is the main character of the film attended Lapford and Hayward’s Primary Schools when the family lived in Crediton, and Naphat ran a women’s clothing and accessories shop in North Street several years ago, before they moved to Thailand.
The film crew arrived in Crediton on Friday, March 14 and filmed at various locations including Crediton Methodist Church, Stevie B’s Bakery, Crediton Coffee Company, the Town Square and the High Street. Students from Queen Elizabeth’s School were involved in the film as extras.
The crew then moved on to Exeter filming at locations including The Royal Albert Memorial Museum, the Quay and the Cathedral Green. On Thursday, March 21 the crew left to film in London.
Although 70 per cent of the film is set in England with a major focus on positively exhibiting English culture, British travel locations and supporting studying in the UK, parts of the film were also shot in Hong Kong and Bangkok.
