’Lambing SOS’ event was a great success
THE first “Lambing SOS” event was held at a local farm and ably instructed by Jonathan Wood Veterinary Practice surgeon’s Lucy Spiller and Kendall Sibbing.
The practice thanks the hosts and the slew of support staff for making the day a success.
It was a mix of theory and practical sessions, covering condition scoring, care of the ewe pre and post lambing, care of the new born lamb, and lambing presentations.
The last of these was helped with the aid of a lambing simulator to allow real hands-on advice with a variety of different lambing situations.
The course was limited to 20 people to allow maximum learning potential.
Every attendant received a full set of notes, along with a certificate of attendance and, most importantly, lunch was provided along with a relaxing pint at the pub afterwards for the debrief.
Jonathan Wood’s next practical day will focus on fertility in the beef herd.
If you or someone you know may be interested please contact the surgery who will place your name on the waiting list.
For those of you who are still in the thick of a busy lambing season, the practice has available stocks of lambing ropes, snares, colostrum, milk replacer and lamb feeding tubes.
