EXETER Chiefs' community department has a busy summer of activities with the help of the first team players and will be continuing its pre-season work to support charities, schools and local rugby clubs.
Chiefs players – Clive Stuart-Smith, Danny Gray, Chris Bentley, Tom Johnson and Matt Jess – led the warm-up before the start of the Hospiscare midnight walk from Budleigh Salterton to Exmouth.
Stuart-Smith was present at the launch of Freedom of Your City cycling campaign, along with Shane Kingsland, and has been busy leading the Warburtons Healthy Eating Programme.
In June 123 youngsters from primary schools which feed into Queen Elizabeth's Community College, Crediton, attend a festival run by Community Chiefs at Crediton RFC.
This was followed with 200 pupils attending the Exeter Chiefs Schools Tag Festival competing for the annual trophy at St Luke's College.
End of term saw Chiefs players attend various prize-giving events with Tom Bedford visiting Chulmleigh School, Jess at Newton Abbot College and Matt Cornwell at Kingsmead Community College.
The first Warburtons Tag Rugby Festival in July had 81 players from five different schools that have taken part in the Healthy Eating Programme at Sandy Park. The second one will be held in October.
This month Community Chiefs' are running fun summer rugby camps at Sandy Park.
