I HAVE to say I was surprised to see in his letter in the Courier (July 25, page five), that Mr Szabo chose not to disclose his affiliation with UKIP having previously run against Nick Way for Crediton Rural ward. Rural by its very definition relates to the countryside so I found it particularly amusing that Mr Szabo is seemingly against trees in Crediton High Street, in favour of more parking spaces. But where does his dislike of trees stem from? Being UKIP, was he worried that European tree species might be considered, threatening "real" British trees and taking their place in the town? Personally, I'd like to see a little less yellow/ purple and a little more green in Crediton. Gary Stanley River Meadows Water Lane Exeter
