FOLLOWING an exciting year including three great concerts and a successful choral workshop, the Chagford Singers are looking forward to starting their 2026-27 season and to welcoming new members.

They will be rehearsing on Wednesdays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in Chagford’s Jubilee Hall, starting on September 9, and any singers (soprano, alto, tenor or bass) who are interested in joining are invited to go along to a rehearsal and try the choir out.

There are no auditions and attendees will be assured of a warm welcome as well as an enjoyable and rewarding musical experience under the guidance of conductor Tina Guthrie.

Highlights in the coming year include a festive concert on December 12 in Chagford Church commemorating the 50th anniversary of the death of Benjamin Britten with a performance of his wonderful Ceremony of Carols.

Harpist and composer Elizabeth-Jane Baldry will be taking part and is premiering a piece which she is composing especially for the occasion.

A concert in May 2027 will feature performances of Fauré’s Requiem and Poulenc’s Gloria.
