THE 772nd Chulmleigh Old Fair, which runs from Tuesday, July 28 to Saturday, August 1, has a packed programme with something for everyone.
John Dixon, Fair Chair, explained: “The committee have been working hard to pull together a full programme of events.
“Come along and meet new friends, catch up with old friends and Enjoy the Fair!
“A big thank-you to all the helpers, volunteers, donors of prizes and all of our sponsors and advertisers, not to mention committee members, who, without their support and encouragement the continued success and smooth running of the Fair would not be possible.”
The Fair begins on the Tuesday with a Family Service in the Parish Church followed by Entertainment in Fore Street and the Crowning of the Fair Queen, Rosie Lucas Ridge, by Claire Withers followed by the Money Scamble.
Hannah’s attendants will be Isabella Lee and Ayla Loosemore with Harry Crocombe as Chief Herald and Matthew Crossley and Diago Gibson Ferreir as Heralds. Crown Bearer will be Mollie Trott.
The Fair will be opened by Nick Withers.
Wednesday includes the Craft Market, Golf Challenge, Flower Festival begins, Sheep Show, Vintage Vehicle Rally, Country Fair, Pavement Artists Competition, Flower and Produce Show, Dog Show and much more.
Thursday sees the Tennis Tournament, Sport for All, Children’s Party, Motor Scavenge and on the Friday the Treasure Trail, 6-a-Side Football Tournament, History Walk, Clay Pigeon Shoot, amongst the main activities.
Saturday, July 26 includes a Coffee Morning, History Exhibition, Orienteering, Afternoon of Fun and Entertainment in Fore Street, Judging of the Fancy Dress Parade, Afternoon Teas, Skittles Final, Traditional Fair games and race, Open Road Race and Street Part for all the Family in Fore Street.
It was 773 years ago in 1253 that King Henry III granted permission for Chulmleigh Fair.
