CREDITON Library is getting involved in the Crime Writers Association’s National Crime Reading Month this June, with a panel of three crime writers visiting on Friday, June 26 at 7pm.
The event is free and you can book tickets via Crediton Library on 01363 772578 or by dropping in.
The event will be featuring popular local crime writer Michael Jecks, Exeter-based Orlando Murrin (a previous Masterchef winner) and Morgen Witzel, who writes as A.J Mackenzie along with his wife. All three will have books available to buy and have signed on the night.
National Crime Reading Month is an initiative developed and run by the Crime Writers’ Association, this year in collaboration with The Reading Agency, which aims to bring new books to existing readers and new readers to the world’s most popular and best-selling genre.
This year National Crime Reading Month features events across the UK and Ireland run by libraries, bookshops, book clubs, reading groups, and even museums. Find out more by following the #PickUpAPageTurner hashtag on social media.
But crime isn’t the only genre represented at the library this month, as on Tuesday, June 23 at 1pm, popular comedian and broadcaster Robin Ince will be giving a lunchtime talk.
Many know Robin as past co-host of BBC Radio 4’s “Infinite Monkey Cage” and as the author of several entertaining books. As a patron of the libraries in Devon, Robin will be giving a number of talks around the county.
In Crediton, he will be speaking about his book “Normally Weird and Weirdly Normal” which investigates his recent late ADHD diagnosis and what being normal really means. Expect an hour (or more) of wit, discussion and most likely many book recommendations.
Tickets to see Robin are just £3 for anyone with a library card (£5 otherwise) and must be booked in advance at the library.
