THE Bookery, in partnership with Crediton and District Lions Club, is excited to welcome children’s author and illustrator Jamie Hammond on Saturday, May 9 at 10.30am for a high energy, imagination-fuelled adventure that invites young readers to step straight into the world of Dragonflare.

Solve puzzles and hunt for gold in this thrilling, funny interactive dragon-riding adventure from the bestselling creator of Grumpfort.

Our Link Room will transform into a puzzle-filled realm where children can create their own dragon before tackling the Wingrider Trials—solving riddles, cracking clues and taking on challenges that test bravery, cleverness and teamwork. Only the most successful adventurers will uncover the final treasure.

Full of humour, heart and heroic mishaps, this lively session brings Jamie’s stories off the page with hands-on creativity, problem-solving and plenty of laughter.

Children will navigate labyrinths, outsmart monsters and explore obstacle courses inspired by his books, celebrating imagination and the joy of storytelling.

Jamie Hammond is both writer and illustrator of his own books and a designer of many well-known children’s titles. Raised in Sheffield and now living in Cambridgeshire, he writes stories celebrating bravery, friendship and individuality—making him the perfect guide for this inventive event.

This session is ideal for Upper KS1 and KS2 (ages 6–11). Jamie will be signing copies of his book at the end of the event.

This event forms part of The Bookery’s vibrant programme of author and community events, proudly supporting the National Year of Reading 2026.

Tickets are free but due to high demand a ticket is required for each child attending. Accompanying adults do not need to book a ticket.

Tickets available in store or online at www.thebookery.org.uk.
