MEMBERS of the public were invited to have their say about traffic and highways issues at a Crediton Town Centre and Traffic Consultation, held in the Boniface Centre on Wednesday, March 6.

Crediton Town Council hosted the event and many people went along to have their say.

The consultation looked at: 1 Ways of improving air quality in the town, 2 Making the town centre a better place to walk and cycle, 3 Custom and self-build homes: another way of delivering housing in Crediton, 4 The Crediton Neighbourhood Plan, 5 Ideas for a Newcombes Meadow trim trail.

The consultation included the Crediton Town Council Feasibility Study which is seeking to deliver a number of aims:

Air Quality/Environment - Better manage air quality, Improve cycle access, Review storm drainage and climate change reliance and Management of the impact of HGV’s and noise impacts.

Bus Movement - Better manage location and operation of bus stops, Improve bus stop waiting realm.

Traffic Behaviour - Reduce traffic speed and Create smoother traffic flow.

Walkability - Improve ability to walk and cross the road and Improve accessibility for disabled and people with pushchairs or mobility aids.

Urban Realm - Enhance public realm, Improve natural landscaping through street trees and green landscaping, Better manage current on-street parking stock, Optimise frontage loading operation and Review and better manage the ongoing maintenance burden.

Representatives from Mid Devon District Council, Devon County Council and Crediton Town Council were there to talk about information in the consultation.”
