LADIES SECTION

THE ladies at Downes Crediton Golf Club played a Stableford competition on February 4.

Due to overnight rain there were 15 temporary greens so they played off half handicap.

Results were as follows:

Division One: 1 Angela Battershall 34pts, 2 Alison Hilton 29pts.

Division Two: 1 June Skuse 28pts, Joyce Gilg 27pts.

Division Three: 1 Jill Aldworth 35pts, 2 Sue Sparham 27pts.

SENIORS SECTION

The seniors played their weekly roll-up at Downes Crediton last Monday (February 8). Making the most of playing on the main greens was Stan Gibson who fired an excellent 42 points to win by four clear shots from Mike Palmer.

There was a three-way tie for third, which saw Richard Burston take the final prize on countback.

The Ladies faced much tougher conditions on Thursday (February 11) as the frost and a strong wind returned. They played a "Flag" competition where the lady who gets the furthest round the course before using all her shots, wins.

That proved to be Betty Willey who completed the full 18 before hitting two more shots down the first. Runner-up was Doreen Warren who just failed to hole-out on the 18th, while Linda Gill finished third, also on the 18th green.

The men played a three man Texas Scramble on Saturday (February 13). Scoring was excellent, with three teams shooting a superb net 55.15 under par!

The winners on countback were the team of Steve Hooper, Mike Turner and Steve Gresham, just ahead of Rick Eidam, Brian Vicary and Ollie Greenslade who, in turn, just pipped Quintin Payne-Cook, Mark Chambers and Peter Leggatt.

Roll Up: 1 S Gibson 42pts, 2 M Palmer 38pts, 3 R Burston 37pts.

Ladies Flag Competition: 1 B Willey, 2 D Warren, 3 L Gill.

Texas Scramble: 1 S Hooper, M Turner and S Gresham 55pts, 2 R Eidam, B Vicary and O Greenslade 55pts, 3 Q Payne-Cook, M Chambers and P Leggatt 55pts.
