CHILDREN who attend the Kidz Star Club, the before and after school club run by Pippins Pre-School at Landscore Primary School enjoyed planting an apple tree in the school grounds and are looking forward to eating apples from it.

The three-year-old British apple tree sapling was donated to Pippins Pre-School by the Morrisons store in Mill Street, Crediton.

Morrisons Crediton store Community Champion Hazel Evely went along to help plant the tree with Hazel Hodge, manager at Pippins.

Morrisons also donated two crates of apples so that the children could taste the fruit which the tree will eventually produce.

Hazel Evely said: “We hope the children enjoy watching the British apple tree grow and also enjoy the delicious apples we have brought along for them today.”

Hazel Hodge, manager, Pippins Pre-School, said: “We would like to say a very big ‘thank you’ to Morrisons for this kind donation of a tree, apples and even the compost to plant the tree.

“Apples are really a big favourite with the children who come to Pippins and the Kidz Star Club.”

Morrisons sell 500 million apples every year. It stocks more than 26 varieties of British apples during the British season.
