A LARGE cubed-shaped metal tank was dumped in the Holy Cross Church car park in Crediton at some time between lunchtime on Wednesday, September 12 and 10pm on Thursday, September 13.

The tank was located just inside the gateway on the right-hand side and bears a label on the side.

The tank appears to contain a plastic liner.

A church spokesman said: "It looks as if it has had oil or similar in it which is probably why someone has irresponsibly dumped it.

"If anyone recognises the tank or saw it being dumped in the car park it would be much appreciated if they could leave a message at the parish office at the Boniface Centre on 01363 773226.

"Due to the size and weight of the tank a sizeable van or similar vehicle must have been used to transport it.

"We are currently searching through CCTV footage at the church to try and narrow down the time frame the tank was left in the car park and see if we can identify the vehicle used."
