DEVON Air Ambulance’s Heli Hike returns this Saturday, July 4, with walkers preparing to take on a coastal challenge while raising vital funds for the lifesaving charity.
Starting from Bigbury-on-Sea, participants can choose between 6, 14 or 26-mile routes, showcasing stunning stretches of the South West Coast Path, including views of Burgh Island, the Avon Estuary and Malthouse Point.
Following the success of last year’s event, 2026 sees the introduction of a new 6-mile route, offering a shorter but still demanding option and opening the event up to more supporters.
Walkers will tackle steep climbs, uneven terrain and coastal paths, while raising funds to help keep Devon Air Ambulance operational. The charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on public support.

Participants aim to raise a minimum of £200 each, contributing to the charity’s ability to respond to emergencies across the county.
In 2025, Devon Air Ambulance attended over 2,100 incidents by air and road.
Founder and Life President Ann Ralli said: "I’m so pleased to be joining the 6-mile Heli Hike this year. It’s a wonderful way for people of all ages and abilities to come together, enjoy Devon’s beautiful coast, and support a cause that’s so close to my heart.
"Every step we take helps keep the Air Ambulance flying, and I hope others will join me for a day of friendship, fresh air, and purpose."
With strong community spirit and breathtaking views, Heli Hike promises to be both a memorable challenge and a vital fundraising effort.
