THE 1st Crediton Scout Postal Service is operating again this year.

It is a great boost for those who want to send Christmas cards within Crediton town at a cost which is lower than Royal Mail prices.

New this year, cards for delivery are also being accepted for the villages of Copplestone and Newton St Cyres only (not outlying properties or hamlets).

Stamps are on sale (and post boxes located) at the Crediton Courier office, Evans Newsagents, Lords Meadow Leisure Centre, Age Concern Crediton, Crediton Congregational Church and Copplestone Community Café (Thursdays am).

Alternatively they can be obtained from any member of the 1st Crediton Scout Group.

Additional post boxes are located at (but no stamps available), from Crediton Morrisons, Redlands Surgery, Crediton Tesco store and Crediton Parish Church.

Arrangements at Landscore, Hayward’s, Copplestone and Newton St Cyres Primary Schools will be communicated to their families via school newsletters.

The special 1st Crediton Christmas Post stamps cost 40p each or three for £1.

Last posting date is Tuesday, December 13.

Cards will be delivered by the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts between December 17 and 21.

If anyone has any queries, or is an elderly/housebound local resident who would like the Scouts to collect post from their home, please call Helen Olsson, Beaver Leader / joint Group Scout Leader, 1st Crediton Scout Group on 07814 977693 or email: [email protected] .

Helen said: “We would like to thank all of the local businesses and community venues who have been selling stamps and hosting postboxes for us, we are really grateful for their support.”
