CREDITON's Darren Hearn (16) was among construction course students at East Devon College, Tiverton, who spent an enjoyable afternoon of "enrichment activity" at Dunkeswell Karting Club, owned by former formula one racing ace, Nigel Mansell. The afternoon was organised by course lecturer, Clive Jeffery, who is also vice president of the karting club.
The kart racing gave the group a welcome break from the college workshops where they have been learning a variety of construction skills, including brickwork, blockwork, carpentry, basic electricals, ploughing, plastering, painting and decorating.
