LOCAL Ceilidh Band, Red Shed, will be celebrating 25 years of playing together with a dance at Newton St Cyres Parish Hall on Friday, November 25.
The band was created from the Crediton members of the old Royal Razz Co - Peter Hamilton, Min Wild, Stuart Toms and Julian Wild, and a couple of new members from Exeter - Keith Hunter and Christine Duff, in November 1992.
In their early years they twice accepted invitations to Yaroslavl in Russia, played numerous folk festivals and were invited to play at Cecil Sharp House, the headquarters of the English Folk Dance and Song Society.
Nowadays they mostly play their brassy, electric brand of dance music at weddings and birthdays, and feel the anniversary is a chance to get out in public and remind people who have enjoyed them down the years that they are still around!
The dance kicks off at 7.30pm and there will be cake. Entry is £6.
