A NUMBER of young people from Crediton Methodist Church took part in the Churches Housing Action Team (CHAT) Big Sleep Out - helping to raise awareness and money of people who are homeless in Mid Devon.

They slept in shelters made from cardboard outside Crediton Parish Church and were supervised throughout the night by youth leaders, Lauren and Daniel.

The Mayor of Crediton, Cllr Frank Letch, went along to congratulate the young people on taking part in the Big Sleep Out and for raising awareness of the issues surrounding homelessness in Mid Devon.

The young people collected sponsorship for their challenge in aid of CHAT.

The young people commented: "It’s good to experience what a homeless person’s life must be like"; "It’s a good charity to raise funds for";  "I’ve never slept outside without a tent before".
