A LOCAL woman who undertook a slow walk, which involved dragging a bucket of water from the Crediton Farmers’ Market up Market Street and along the High Street to Crediton Congregational Church, has raised £800 for the charity, Water for Kids.

Caroline O’Sullivan explained: "After supporting a slow walk in Totnes, (inspired by the Spanish el paseo tradition and the international slow movement), I became interested in the potential I had to change something I felt passionate about.”

Caroline received many donations from members of the public who were interested in her novel sponsored slow walk.

Many chatted to find out more about the charity and her efforts to support those without clean drinking water in Africa.

Caroline said she was inspired to do the slow walk as something for Lent.

She saves her loose change for the charity, which, she added, improves health and education, reduces poverty and above all, saves lives.

"As well as community building and connecting with each other, we can also reach out to the wider world.

"I often think of those who do not have clean water to drink and are forced to put themselves and their children in danger of disease every day just to survive.”

On her journey and since, Caroline has compiled a folder of artistic work of Crediton Celebrating Water, including pictures, poems and stories about water.

She thanks everyone who sponsored her and said there is still time to donate by visiting her “Mydonate” page online and searching Caroline O’Sullivan. Her contact number is 01363 82838.
